Overview
Prevage MD is actually a prescription medication used to treat the skin. Thus, it is available only with a doctor’s permission and its use must be carefully monitored by a health professional. Prevage MD is supposed to help counteract free radicals, one of the major causes of wrinkles, and protect the skin against further damage.
Featured Ingredients
The only ingredient mentioned at any length is the antioxidant idebonone. This powerful antioxidant is a synthetic compound that was created after years of research into which chemicals could neutralize free radicals. Idebonone is supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines within just a few weeks, because of its apparent ability to stimulate skin repair. Surprisingly, we could only find one study on 18 subjects regarding this effect, which to us seems a rather small sample size to make a reasonable assertion about the anti-wrinkle benefits of Prevage MD. But it cannot be denied that idebonone is in fact a potent antioxidant. However, considering that this ingredient is available only by prescription, it may mean that Prevage MD may prove to be too hard for most consumers to obtain.
Web Site Description
The web site for Prevage MD does post a fairly comprehensive listing of research studies and testimonials regarding idebonone and the Prevage MD formula. The web site also posts a link to help consumers find a physician near them who may be able to prescribe this formula. However, it is not totally clear how the doctor’s consultation will proceed or how often one has to consult with a health care professional while using Prevage MD.
Positives
- Idebonone is one of the most powerful antioxidants known
Negatives
- Available only through a doctor’s prescription
- May not produce dramatic wrinkle reduction
- No free trial offered
Conclusion
There is no doubting that Prevage MD is an effective formula for the skin. The research seems solid and this product does seem like a good method of helping protect against future damage. But considering the fact that few people want to use a prescription product for their skin, and the fact that it may be hard to find, other formulas may make more sense.
