Overview
The popular Obagi Nu-Derm System takes a two-fold approach to skin aging. One series of formulas are designed to help restore skin to a youthful appearance following damage caused by sun exposure, harsh weather and the general effects of aging. The other system includes formulas designed to help prevent damage from occurring. While both of these systems attempt to address two of the main issues concerning aging skin, when one realizes that each system contains several products, a consumer could end up using five or six products that we feel could be condensed into one or two. That being said, the AntiAging-Reviews.com research team still attempted to conduct an objective review of Obagi.
Featured Ingredients
Unfortunately, we found it difficult to give a full review of the Obagi systems, since it was hard to obtain a full listing of the active ingredients in any of the formulas. From what we were able to gather, it seems as if Obagi features various forms of vitamin C in many of its formulas. Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins necessary for healthy skin. Not only does this nutrient help to keep the immune system functioning at top level, but it also helps to neutralize many of the free radical molecules that are responsible for causing wrinkles and fine lines. In addition, a limited number of studies suggests that Vitamin C may help to encourage collagen production, albeit on a very limited scale.
Hopefully, if Obagi becomes more forthcoming with its ingredients for its formulas, the AntiAging-Reviews.com team can judge whether or not it has other key compounds found to promote younger-looking skin. Such as Glucosamine Complex, which encourages collagen production, or Hyaluronic Acid, which helps the skin retain its youthful levels of moisture. When these ingredients are combined in a system that also employs top antioxidants like Green Tea, White Tea and Grape Seed Extract (which are all reported to be several times more powerful than Vitamin C), the result is a comprehensive strategy for reducing wrinkles. Hopefully Obagi develops a system around this approach, if it hasn’t done so already.
Web Site Description
When the AntiAging-Reviews.com research team conducted its review of Obagi, the company had yet to develop its own web site. That is one of the reasons why it was difficult to find out a complete list of ingredients for the company’s formulas, in addition to the fact that it made the products harder to obtain. Without its own web site, Obagi therefore does not have a central location where potential customers could look to see scientific research on the product, read testimonials from satisfied customers or perhaps order a free trial of the Obagi systems. All of these components are essential to a useful system, so until these aspects are included, it is difficult to assess Obagi’s effects.
Positives
- Contains Vitamin C, a known antioxidant
Negatives
- Full ingredient list hard to obtain
- No customer testimonials available
- Company does not offer a free trial of product
Conclusion
Not only does Obagi ask customers to purchase two separate systems (with several products each) in order to reduce wrinkles and prevent skin aging, but the company makes it hard to find out the essential information needed to make a reasonable decision about whether this product can help. Until more information becomes available, AntiAging-Reviews.com cannot make a full review or recommend this company’s products.
