Overview
Nivea is quite a large company, so it should come as no surprise that it now offers its own line of anti-aging products, since Nivea does have an established presence in retail stores. But reputation alone does not automatically guarantee results, especially when it comes to reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Even though many large companies claim to have the best products, the AntiAging-Reviews.com research team has found that - all too often - the big corporations are the last to use the latest in skincare nutrients. We decided to see if Nivea was also missing the mark.
Featured Ingredients
Unfortunately, the wrinkle reduction formulas in the Nivea Q10 line seem to rely too heavily on the ingredient known as CoQ10. While this enzyme is very important to energy production within the body’s cells, its benefits for the skin seem limited. Specific studies have shown that CoQ10 is a potent antioxidant that can help protect the skin against sun exposure and other sources of free radicals that accelerate skin aging. And while Nivea seems to claim that CoQ10 can also have a reduction effect on wrinkles and fine lines, we are not aware of any research citing these kinds of results.
If Nivea truly wanted to create a comprehensive formula that could not only protect the skin against the appearance of wrinkles in the future but also do something about the wrinkles you do have, then the company would have also included compounds such as Glucosamine Complex, Hyaluronic Acid, Regenex and Lifting Spheres, which all seem to dramatically reduce wrinkles and fine lines, while softening and soothing the skin, by encouraging the production of collage in the skin. Unfortunately, Nivea Q10 does not contain any of these powerful compounds.
Web Site Description
Unfortunately, most of the Nivea web site seems dedicated to promoting the company’s corporate profile and international status. Much of the site contains information about Nivea’s history and mission, in addition to an entire international section that shows customers what countries currently carry Nivea products. We would have preferred that the company would have used more space to list clinical research on its product, in addition to possibly providing customers with the option of trying its products for free.
Positives
- CoQ10 is an effective antioxidant
Negatives
- Does not contain any known collagen boosters
- No free trial option is available
- No customer testimonials are posted on the site
Conclusion
Although we would love if large companies like Nivea would be able to invest some of its profits into researching and developing formulas using the best known wrinkle reduction ingredients, we wonder if that will ever happen. Even though Nivea Q10 will produce some benefits for the skin, these seem largely to be protective in nature rather than actually helping reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
