Overview
Kinerase is produced by one of the smaller companies that we have reviewed. It only produces a limited number of products, including cleansers, serums and lotions meant to fight skin aging. All of its products contain the foundation of the company’s creation - Kinetin - which is a plant extract that apparently has anti-aging effects on sun-damaged skin. Recently, Kinerase received a boost to its popularity when actress Courtney Cox of Friends fame decided to join up with the company to endorse its products and help produce future formulas.
Featured Ingredients
Kinetin does have some encouraging research, although the results should be viewed as preliminary and not final by any means. Kinetin is a plant-derived compound that actually falls within the category of similar plant hormones. This compound is supposed to help regulate cell division in skin cells. Apparently, adding kinetin seems to help destroy aging cells yet preserve young, healthy cells. Although the effect is not yet known, this is a promising area of research. Unfortunately, some studies suggest that plant hormones could actually increase the risk of cell division to the point of becoming cancer. But this is unlikely to happen with use of Kinerase, since the formula contains low concentrations of Kinetin.
In addition, Kinerase does contain some collagen in the formula, which is a questionable practice. Scientists have yet to devise fool-proof ways of delivering whole collagen into the skin, since collagen is such a large molecule. The best way to do so is through injection, which is not recommended. The use of a cream containing collagen is unlikely to produce the desired anti-wrinkle effect. It seems more effective to rely on Glucosamine Complex and Regenex, which are proven ingredients that boost collagen production in the skin itself, which may have a more lasting effect.
Web Site Description
While much of the web site seems to focus on Courtney Cox and her celebrity status in connection with promoting Kinerase, we would have liked to have seen more scientific data verifying the formula’s results on wrinkles and fine lines. In addition, the customer testimonials seem very limited, and there is no free trial available.
Positives
- Kinetin is a unique ingredient with a novel approach to skin aging
Negatives
- Use of collagen in the product is not recommended
- No free trial offer
- Unsure about a celebrity assisting with the creation of a skincare formula
Conclusion
While the presence of a known Hollywood actress will surely get a lot of attention for Kinerase, the formula may not hold up to the rigorous testing of science. Even considering Kinetin’s unique composition and encouraging research, the formula simply does not offer enough additional effects for today’s consumer. In addition, the use of collagen seems unrealistic.
