Hydroderm was developed during the skincare “boom” of the late 90s as a way of reducing wrinkles and rejuvenating the skin. Its Age-Defying Wrinkle Reducer claims to deliver entire, intact collagen molecules into the skin, where they will theoretically be accepted by the body and replenish lost collagen. Hydroderm received much notoriety for its aggressive and convincing Web marketing campaigns, which promised that this formula was the “answer for younger looking skin.”

Many such products have made this same promise but have failed to deliver. Considering the scientific near impossibility of delivering actual whole collagen molecules into the skin - without injections - the researchers at AntiAging-Reviews.com admittedly were skeptical about Hydroderm’s ability to deliver true anti-aging results. Therefore, the team decided to conduct its own independent research.

Featured Ingredients

Even after ordering the product and testing it, the AntiAging-Reviews.com team found it difficult to decipher what ingredients Hydroderm contained. Apparently, the Web site claims that Hydroderm uses proprietary technology to deliver whole collagen molecules into the skin. What kind of collagen is another question. The bottle only lists the collagen as “Marine Collagen,” which leads the science team to suspect that Hydroderm, like many products that are only temporary in their results, use a combination of shellfish and similar derivatives to accomplish results.  The other ingredient touted on the product’s Web site is Vyo-Serum, which - as best can be gathered - seems to contain a mixture of proteins and peptides designed to provide a “tingling effect” so that the consumer perceives there to be some sort of lifting effect on the skin. At press time, no conclusive research for Vyo-Serum has been found. 

Web Site Description

The Hydroderm Web site contains very little information about the Wrinkle Reducer or the other products within its skincare line. Even with the heading of “Science,” there seems to be a disturbing lack of specifics about what the product contains or the scientific research behind its claims. In addition, most of the text and graphics on the site seem to be directed towards getting visitors to sign up for monthly shipments of the formula, which may or may not be clear upon ordering.

- The Wrinkle Reducer does seem to have a tingling effect on the skin, but this seems to be temporary

- Testimonials are posted on the web site, but AntiAging-Reviews.com cannot vouch for their accuracy

Conclusion

The Hydroderm Wrinkle Reducer claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by replenishing lost collagen. But it is difficult to determine if these claims have been scientifically established. In addition, the lack of research on the collagen technology is concerning. It seems to make more sense to the editors of AntiAging-Reviews.com to employ ingredients such as Glucosamine Complex, Hyaluronic Acid, Lifting Spheres and Regenex to encourage the skin’s production of its own collagen, rather than relying on marine or animal sources.
