Overview

Biotox is formulated and distributed by the company Buddha Care, which apparently has a line of products in the body care field, formulas for hair care and teas. It recently released an anti-wrinkle product called Biotox, which is supposed to promote younger skin through its unique mixture of traditional wrinkle reduction compounds along with several natural botanical ingredients. AntiAging-Reviews.com decided to analyze this blend to see if it could deliver as promised.

 Featured Ingredients

Biotox contains Marine Collagen, which is derived most likely from shellfish or plant sources from the ocean (such as seaweed). While the natural choice deserves some praise, rather than relying on synthetic ingredients, we question any product that claims to deliver collagen to the skin. To our knowledge, this feat is accomplished only through injection, since whole collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the outer layers of skin. In contrast, it makes more sense to stimulate the skin to produce more of its own collagen through such powerful ingredients as Glucosamine Complex.

Biotox also contains Argireline, an amino acid that is supposed to relax facial muscles in the hopes of counteracting the contractions that can cause wrinkles to become deeper. However, clinical tests suggest that it requires 15 days of constant use (as much as 3 times a day) to reduce wrinkles by 60%. There may be other compounds, such as Regenex and Glucosamine Complex, which actually may produce better results in a shorter amount of time.

In addition, it is puzzling why Biotox includes Cranberry Extract. While cranberry is a powerful antioxidant that can have protective effects on the urinary tract - and it does enhance the immune system’s ability to resist illness - there is no evidence showing that it can promote younger-looking skin.

 Web Site Description

While Buddha Care’s site for Biotox does contain some useful information and features, it fails to provide enough research on its ingredients - especially Cranberry. The company does not post any testimonials, and it would he helpful to know how this product has worked for others in the past. Fortunately, Biotox can be ordered online, and the site does offer securing ordering.

 Positives

- Secure, direct ordering available

 Negatives

- Use of collagen is questionable

- Cranberry has no scientific research for use on the skin

- No online testimonials

 Conclusion

Even though we appreciate Buddha Care’s efforts to combine known skincare ingredients with herbal and botanical compounds, Biotox falls short because of inferior ingredient choices. Consumers would do better to seek a formula that contains Regenex, Glucosamine and botanical antioxidants like Green Tea, White Tea and Grape Seed Extract.

Overview

Produced by DermaLogics, the Rejuvinol AM/PM System actually consists of two separate formulas. Rejuvinol is the day formula and Rejuvox is the night formula, yet the ingredient listing for both products are actually quite similar, leading the AntiAging-Reviews.com research team to wonder if the company seriously considered the different needs for skin during the day and evening. Upon closer look, we found that this system is rather weak, especially when compared to other two-step wrinkle reduction formulas.

 Featured Ingredients

Both Rejuvinol and Rejuvox contain Argireline, which is a compound that theoretically can be an alternative to Botox. While Botox reduces wrinkles by freezing the facial muscles - and thus prevent the contractions of skin that cause deep creases - Argireline acts by relaxing these muscles so that skin does not bunch up as easily. While it may seem positive to present a non-toxic alternative to Botox, Argireline is not yet proven. In addition, the effects it does perform may take as long as 15 days of constant use to become visible.

Both formulas also contain Glycerol Stearate, which is a fatty acid used to add thickness to lotions and serums. It has no therapeutic use for reducing wrinkles, even though it is a relatively safe compound. In addition, Rejuvinol and Rejuvox at least attempt to provide some protection against future skin damage by including Green Tea. Green Tea is a powerful antioxidant that helps wrinkles from forming. While it is effective, studies suggest that Green Tea works best when combined with White Tea (a related plant) and Grape Seed Extract. This triple combination probably would have made a better choice for the formula.

 Web Site Description

While the DermaLogics web site for the Rejuvinol system presents some good information - and the web site does contain some testimonials from costumers who have used the product - it does not present a comprehensive amount of research on its ingredients. In addition, the price does seem high and one cannot purchase either product separately.

 Positives

- Testimonials posted online

 Negatives

- Only includes Green Tea - no White Tea or Grape Seed Extract

- No Glucosamine Complex or other collagen boosters

- Use of Argireline may take a while to produce noticeable results

 Conclusion

In essence, Rejuvinol seems like so many other inferior products on the market. It relies too much on Argireline and does not contain the right combination of ingredients that can truly reduce wrinkles and prevent aging in the skin. If you are looking for a formula that can make wrinkles and fine lines less noticeable, we recommend a formulation with Regenex or Glucosamine Complex instead.

Overview

The makers of Dermacia claim to be able to offer its consumers to use the same secrets used by Hollywood stars to give their skin a glowing appearance and reduce the signs of skin aging. Since that is quite a claim, and we were curious about what those secrets may involve, the AntiAging-Reviews.com research team decided to look into this formula further.

 Featured Ingredients

Apparently, the ingredient that Dermacia claims is the Hollywood secret for aging skin is a compound called Live Yeast Cell Derivative (LYCD). LYCD was originally used in hemorrhoid creams, since this ingredient did seem to have a positive effect on skin inflammation that occurs in the rectal area. Based on these results, many companies started introducing products containing LYCD in the 1990s, touting it as the Hollywood secret for wrinkles. Unfortunately, the research for LYCD on facial skin fails to hold up to scrutiny. In addition, some regulatory agencies have asked companies to no longer use this ingredient for facial products, since it is oily and can clog skin, leading to breakouts.

Unfortunately, Dermacia does get it right in a limited way because the formula contains Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most powerful moisturizing ingredients available. It is naturally produced by the body and helps keep water in skin so that collagen and elastin can remain nourished and strong. Hyaluronic acid should be a standard ingredient in all cosmetic formulas, since its ability to battle wrinkles and fine lines is well-established.

 Web Site Description

The Dermacia web site has obviously been built by someone with a lot of marketing savvy. The site is far from forthcoming about the history of LYCD and fails to response to posts from consumers about its tendency to clog skin and make it oily. In addition, the site seems to be focused more on eliciting sales rather than giving solid information about the research behind its product.

 Positives

- Includes Hyaluronic Acid, a known anti-aging ingredient

 Negatives

- Contains LYCD, a yeast extract originally developed for hemorrhoids, which can be harmful

- No convincing customer testimonials

- Unclear if a free trial is available

- Many consumers complain about oily or clogged skin from this product

 Conclusion

We cannot recommend Dermacia, since this product relies on a potentially harmful compound, LYCD. Apparently, the producers of this formula cared more about trying to hype up the Hollywood Secret angle more than creating a formula that could cause positive results for aging skin. Even with the inclusion of Hyaluronic Acid, which will help reduce wrinkles and fine lines, Dermacia is incomplete.

Overview

Kinerase is produced by one of the smaller companies that we have reviewed. It only produces a limited number of products, including cleansers, serums and lotions meant to fight skin aging. All of its products contain the foundation of the company’s creation - Kinetin - which is a plant extract that apparently has anti-aging effects on sun-damaged skin. Recently, Kinerase received a boost to its popularity when actress Courtney Cox of Friends fame decided to join up with the company to endorse its products and help produce future formulas.

 Featured Ingredients

Kinetin does have some encouraging research, although the results should be viewed as preliminary and not final by any means. Kinetin is a plant-derived compound that actually falls within the category of similar plant hormones. This compound is supposed to help regulate cell division in skin cells. Apparently, adding kinetin seems to help destroy aging cells yet preserve young, healthy cells. Although the effect is not yet known, this is a promising area of research. Unfortunately, some studies suggest that plant hormones could actually increase the risk of cell division to the point of becoming cancer. But this is unlikely to happen with use of Kinerase, since the formula contains low concentrations of Kinetin.

In addition, Kinerase does contain some collagen in the formula, which is a questionable practice. Scientists have yet to devise fool-proof ways of delivering whole collagen into the skin, since collagen is such a large molecule. The best way to do so is through injection, which is not recommended. The use of a cream containing collagen is unlikely to produce the desired anti-wrinkle effect. It seems more effective to rely on Glucosamine Complex and Regenex, which are proven ingredients that boost collagen production in the skin itself, which may have a more lasting effect.

 Web Site Description

While much of the web site seems to focus on Courtney Cox and her celebrity status in connection with promoting Kinerase, we would have liked to have seen more scientific data verifying the formula’s results on wrinkles and fine lines. In addition, the customer testimonials seem very limited, and there is no free trial available.

 Positives

- Kinetin is a unique ingredient with a novel approach to skin aging

 Negatives

- Use of collagen in the product is not recommended

- No free trial offer

- Unsure about a celebrity assisting with the creation of a skincare formula

 Conclusion

While the presence of a known Hollywood actress will surely get a lot of attention for Kinerase, the formula may not hold up to the rigorous testing of science. Even considering Kinetin’s unique composition and encouraging research, the formula simply does not offer enough additional effects for today’s consumer. In addition, the use of collagen seems unrealistic.
